Jean Chambers began her fine art career by painting during
off-hours while running her own business in the architectural field. Her earliest study took place in
museums and art galleries where she developed a keen sense of the techniques
the artists used to build the work. She has attended various workshops and enjoys the interaction with other
artists, and finds school-like environment stimulating. Her basic premise is, however, hard
work in front of her easel.
When a plateau is reached, Chambers has kept her painting
progressing by self-imposed isolation where production is set aside to allow
time for experimentation and growth.
Throughout her continuing studies she remains faithful to
her own art and has developed a style that is uniquely her own; art that is
timeless, yet timely. Her limited
palette, skill-based experience, expert paint manipulation and meticulous
attention to accuracy, create an inner luminosity and surface tension on her
canvas that is the trademark of a Chambers’ painting. Her work has earned many awards, including Signature
Membership in Oil Painters of America, and is highly sought by collectors in
this country and abroad.
Chambers
studio is at her home, Y Lightning Ranch near Hereford, Arizona where she has
become actively involved in instructing aspiring artists. In 2001 after moving here from Alabama,
she began a weekly drawing and painting group to bring art to the community,
this has become a very important part of the local art scene. She teaches semi-annual workshops at
Scottsdale Artists’ School and annually at Fredericksburg Art School.
