Kate Sammons' work focuses on representational still life and
portraiture. She is a graduate of the Ani Art Academy Waichulis in Northern PA
and the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Fine Arts
Degree in Painting and Drawing, summa cum-laude. She received two
Honor Awards from the Portrait Society of America in 2007 and 2010, and the
International Award for Best Portrait in the Art Renewal Center's 2009-2010
Salon. Her work is featured in the Northlight Publications book, Strokes of
Genius Vol 2 c 2009 and on the cover of American Artist Drawing Magazine Fall
2010. Kate Sammons' “Self Portrait
with Hermes” was included in the top 100 portraits to be shown in the triennial
Outwin Boochever portrait competition held at the Smithsonian National Portrait
Gallery in Washington DC in 2009/2010. She has appeared in a number of magazine
competitions and articles including the Artist's Magazine,
American Artist, International Artist Magazine and American Art Collector.
Among the museums that have included her work in their exhibitions are the
National Portrait Gallery, The Butler Institute of American Art, The Ft Wayne
Museum of Art. Since moving to Los Angeles she teaches privately and at the Los
Angeles Academy of Figurative Art.
She is a member of the Portrait Society of America, the Cecilia Beaux
Forum and an Artist Member of the California Art Club.
