David Evans was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and at an early age showed a strong interest in art and sports. His family often took trips to Yellowstone and other mountainous regions in the western United States. These surroundings left an indelible impact on his mind and would eventually find their influence in his paintings.
David attended the University of Utah and played baseball for the university. After graduating with a degree in business he worked in technical sales for nine years and spent most of his evenings painting on the side.
He always wanted to pursue his love of painting, but felt he needed formal training to refine his technical skills. With the encouragement of his wife, they moved to California where he attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He was awarded a scholarship in the illustration department.
Since completing his training, David has worked in commercial art and currently shows his work in galleries in the western United States. His paintings are held in private and corporate collections.
David comes from a family of well known artists which includes his grandfather Edwin Evans, a Utah artist and former head of the art department at the University of Utah and Avard Fairbanks (sculptor). David currently resides in Sandy, Utah with his wife Kari, and their six children.
